REFLECTION ON THE RECENT STRIKES OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS'S TEACHERS.

Tuesday, 04 July 2023 REFLECTION ON THE RECENT  STRIKES OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS'S  TEACHERS.          From March to late June 2023, the teachers of higher education institutions observed continual strikes that weren’t without consequences on the national curricula. Despite the legitimacy of their claims, it did not let students indifferent. The claims arose from two sides: teachers’ and students. First, the teachers had for decades their claims in the drawers of the government. Each time they stand for their achievement, the government resolves partially the issue. Some points are always solved out of many others. Therefore, a disagreement arose within the union members which resulted in breaking the union into two branches. In consequence, the government chose the part that favoured it. That could not solve the issue because teachers were faithful to the side which bore their aspirations. As for the students, they co...

Pan-Africanism

MAY 25, SYMBOLIC OR REAL? This day dedicated to Pan-Africanism suffers from a hypocrisy of the African Elite which brings the euphoria of a dream with the hidden face to ordinary citizens. The African Elite until then works in an ambivalence which is characterized by its great love for the West and at the same time by its "great repulsion" towards the latter when it comes face to face with its people. Verbs, for six decades, have stolen the limelight from concrete actions, pledges of the realization of what until now was only a dream. A paradigm shift is timely in favor of a truly united Africa. It is obvious that the leaders who have worked in the direction of a paradigm shift have been perceived as enemies of Africa due to our lack of culture. There is no need to mention the names of these charismatic leaders who were sacrificed on the altar of African unity. It is time we question the identity of the person to whom the unity of Africa would bother and why? Experts answered...

GETTING MY STUDENTS CONCENTRATED DURING THE COURSE

Image
I.              BACKGROUND I teach Franco – Arabic students. They are between the age range of 12 to 14. The class – size is 24 students. In addition to their mother tongue, they speak French and Arabic. English is therefore the third language they learn at school. According to the national curricula, they do not have English as a subject during the national examinations but they sit for Arabic, instead.        II.             PROBLEMS At the beginning of the year, my students were very attentive when I explained the lesson, so I did not put pressure on them. As time went on, more than 1/3 of the students stopped paying attention and started chatting with their desk mates, hence disturbing the course of lessons. This negatively affected the learning outcomes as they have little takeaway from the course.       III.  ...

OUR INHERITANCE IN TROUBLE

The world lacks moral compasses. Unfortunately, all of the human derives are due to this sad fact. Humanity is mainly guided by the material profit rather than the moral values or the religious faith. As a result, everything that represents an obstacle to our money profit is taken away at whatever price. We have gone mad about money. In fact, the one we are supposed to help, is either deprived from what remains to him as hope and let hopeless or killed. Therefore, having a glance on the global insecurity we face nowadays, we can easily realize that it took roots in frustration, injustice and lack of education. First, the most powerful people have inverted the social pyramid, making of the top the base of that latter. Those whose inner competence should be rewarded are let behind. A circle, of crazy mob took control of the world and no one else has his say in it. Secondly, justice is for the most powerful people and laws are set against the weakest ones. Those latter feel insecure in a ...

THE PLACE OF COMPUTERS IN EDUCATION

Image
Should computer science be made a fourth learning skill in education? For centuries, important parts of education have remained such as reading, writing and maths. With the advent of computers some people think that computer skill be made as a fourth skill to be added to the list. To what extend do you agree? Nowadays, computer science is the most important subject all around the world. Because whatever diploma you get you are asked about computer skills. Therefore, I strongly agree that computer skill should be added to the list of reading, writing and maths as essential education parts. Nowadays, computer controls the whole process of education. It has become the turning point of every subject. Firstly, schools have integrated computer science in their yearly syllabus because they see it as essential as the other subjects to their students. Secondly, at the end of their studies, students are to write their memoire whereas the handwritten version of this is not accepted. So, lea...

THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Image
Some educationalists think that international exchange visits will benefit teenagers at the school. To what extend do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?          Nowadays, globalisation goes through every sector of the social life. Thereby, education has not been ignored. International exchange visits are seen differently. We do agree that it profits the young pupils but it still has a few drawbacks.            Teens get many outcomes from their contact with another country, thus another culture and even another language. They experience a cultural integration and another way of seeing and doing things. Moreover, their behaviour improves and broadens in case they get into a richer culture than theirs. Additionally, teenagers nourish a mind-set of competitors which in turn will tends them at promoting their different countries thereby inciting each other to visit their counties or to even se...

WATER ISSUE AT ENSup - MALI

Image
The matter of water is a big issue to be addressed at ENSup. Over the past months, the courses of the English department of the institution were interrupted because water couldn't reach the second floor. Obviously, wherever people spend the biggest part of their time they should have sufficient water supply. It should be noted that around one thousand student professors have their courses on the first, second and third floor. Therefore, the absence of water not only affects the teachers but also those thousands of people who struggle in harsh conditions to get knowledge. For instance, the WCs having no water, remain so dirty that women cannot use them for fear of the health outcomes. As a result, the downstairs' toilets are overcrowded. Indeed, lack of water is a big issue the administration must urgently address. Regarding the negative impacts of this problem over not only people but also the quality of the learning outcomes, the problem should vividly be solved. First of all...
