Should computer science be made a fourth learning skill in education?

For centuries, important parts of education have remained such as reading, writing and maths. With the advent of computers some people think that computer skill be made as a fourth skill to be added to the list.

To what extend do you agree?

Nowadays, computer science is the most important subject all around the world. Because whatever diploma you get you are asked about computer skills. Therefore, I strongly agree that computer skill should be added to the list of reading, writing and maths as essential education parts.

Nowadays, computer controls the whole process of education. It has become the turning point of every subject. Firstly, schools have integrated computer science in their yearly syllabus because they see it as essential as the other subjects to their students. Secondly, at the end of their studies, students are to write their memoire whereas the handwritten version of this is not accepted. So, learning some computer skills becomes an obligation for them. Finally, the most efficient way of delivering a lesson in our century is through the PowerPoint presentations. Then, any teacher who want to be performant in class has to be acquainting with the computer. Obviously, computer skill is as essential as reading, writing and maths within education.

Moreover, computer skill is what you are asked for after any diploma during a job interview. This means that even if you can read, write and calculate, there is still something that completes those skills: computer skills. For instance, you will rarely see a company, organisation or government institution that does not have a database to stock their data. As a result, their employees are to have some computer skills. Briefly, computer skill completes and values the knowledge you have.

In summary, computer skills have become another active skill we cannot go without. It completes our educational skills and opens more doors than a single education without it. In my opinion, it should be added to those educational skills the resisted to the pressure of time.

    What to improve
    *For me instead computer skill use digital skills. Computer skill is stricted to computing. However, digital skills cover computer and Mobile Assistant Learning (MAL) students needs to develop (Iphone, Android...)
    *in your last sentence in the 4 paragraph, you wrote " Briefly,.......) and you started the last paragraph with "In summary, ...). These are too much, I think you should keep on In summary and delete briefly, because it means you are concluding.

  Teaching people a better way of doing things is considered worldwide to be the most important step of human life. It is said to be continual for it begins from the cradle to the grave. Moreover, education starts in childhood through parents and continues up to adulthood through the society. Parents want their children to have a perfect behaviour.
